Default "Preventing hack account attacks" idea

I know there is lot of h4xs in the net but all are just keyloggers and viruses to steal your account even some ppl try to brake passwords to some people accounts because they have a email adress they have registred on. My idea is to add 2 informations:

1st one will be every time you will be logging to your account you will be leving a ip adress and time when you was logged like:

Last time you was logged: Yesterday 16:17 ip: 212.130.133.111
or
Last time you was logged: 16'th June 20:17 ip: 73.10.153.1

Maybe make a alert option in gw will be a nice idea. You will be able to set range of ip's that you are loging from like 83.0.0.0 - 83.255.255.255 and when anyone that is out of that range log in you will be informed on the email or there will be a popup when you log in like : "Someone logged in from ip that is out of range that You have set up in alert menu"

2nd will be add information when you log in how many incorrect logins was made to your account like:

Someone or You have entered incorrect password and try to log in. At 16'th June 20:17 ip: 73.10.153.1

Sorry for bad english and thank you for reading.

Well, hackers can't get anything if you play it honest and don't download third person software. At the point in which a player violates the contract they signed, why should arenanet help them in anyway? They're perfectly justified in not doing anything at all.

Maybe u could use the MAC address(es) to prohibit access from other computers. This works well if u use one or few computers that u own.

No you could add his mac address to the list of safe users, you just have to think of it in advance, when u would use the OPTIONAL MAC address restriction

Or you could not give out account information or download bad programs...don't think they're allowed to give out IPs like that...

You call him and ask him. Additional (optional) safety is not bad, especially in times like these. I don't download such stuff, but I would encourage Anet to develop such security for their users. Chances to be hacked are maybe slim when u don't download stuff, but it is not impossible. Making chances smaller by simple security rules would not be bad to my opinion. After all U don't want to loose your xx months old account. But from the clients side some care is needed as well. But I guess it is part naivety from the not so paranoid, that use 3rd party software for certain things (like damage calculators, build simulators etc).

people just have to be careful and virus scan anything and everything they download as well as running regular virus scans on the computer system.

Like I said it is optional, u CAN use it if u want, it is not obligatory. But u can ask once the mac address of the network card in that computer and you are safer for the time being. IP is not a real solution, maybe mac addressess are not brilliant either, but better then nothing

these are options too, define your own question, and answer it. Had that in mind as well, as i have it for several services.

This is a good idea, more needs to be done to prevent account hacks. There are plenty of other ways to have your computer compromised besides running third party software, the more information we have the better. Its not like it hurts you in any way if anet gave you the option. If you use multiple machines, either don't use the alert or have an option to add multiple address ranges.

Unless there was an update regarding this in the past year or so, in gw's current state if someone finds out your email address they can guess passwords to their heart's content without anybody ever knowing.

Dynamic IPs have a range that could be put in, all ISPs/areas work in a certain range. My IP is static, always on, never changes even if i were to turn all power off.
